Our Mission
​

The Reach For Me Program exists to educate, empower, and restore individuals to their fullest potential through positive reinforcement, life-building teachings, and compassionate support. Our goal is to offer hope, direction, and practical tools that lead to lasting change, productive citizenship, and a brighter future. We are committed to interrupting cycles of incarceration, substance use, and instability by equipping youth, young adults, and returning citizens with the skills and resources they need to succeed.

Our Programs & Services

Youth & Adult Development

  • We provide structured classes and support groups focused on:

  • Personal development

  • Self-esteem and confidence building

  • Values, morals, and decision-making

  • Conflict resolution and violence prevention

  • Building healthy relationships

Substance Use Education & Recovery Support

  • Our substance use education and resource summits help individuals:

  • Understand warning signs of substance use

  • Prevent relapse through accountability

  • Access support groups and recovery resources

  • Meet parole or reentry requirements when applicable

Life Skills & Lifestyle Training

  • Participants gain practical life tools including:

  • Coping with trauma and grief

  • Emotional regulation and anger management

  • Healthy communication skills

  • Navigating social services and community resources

Reentry & Employment Support

  • For individuals transitioning back into the community, we provide:

  • Resume and application assistance

  • Interview preparation

  • Professional dress support through our clothing closet

  • Hygiene kits for job readiness

  • Assistance obtaining vital documents (birth certificates, state IDs, Social Security cards)

  • These services help participants secure employment and reduce the risk of recidivism.

 

Financial Literacy

  • Our financial education seminars teach:

  • Money management skills

  • Budgeting and saving

  • Financial responsibility and stability

  • Age-appropriate financial education for youth and adults

Nutrition & Food Support

  • Participants may receive a weekly food box or meal bag, including:

  • Healthy foods

  • Complete meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner

  • Nutritional support to promote overall wellness

 

Transportation Assistance

  • Transportation is provided when needed to ensure participants can attend:

  • Classes

  • Support groups

  • Program activities

  • Transportation may include bus fare, gas assistance, or vehicle pickup based on availability.

Community Impact

The Reach For Me Program proudly serves Kankakee County, with a strong focus on Kankakee and Hopkins Park. Our work strengthens individuals, families, and neighborhoods—making our program a lasting asset to the community.

Oversees all program operations to ensure effectiveness, accountability, and smooth daily function.

Responsible for:

  • Program promotion (radio, social media, flyers, mailers)

  • Scheduling classes and groups

  • Coordinating activities and events

  • Record keeping, budgeting, inventory, and ordering

All staff report through program leadership to ensure excellence and unity.

Program Structure

  • Classes may meet weekly for three months or bi-weekly for six months

  • Participants receive certificates upon successful completion

  • Attendance and progress are carefully tracked

  • Events and summits may be held on or off-site in partnership with other agencies
